Trash to Treasure

To continue on the path of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling, I wondered what else can I do to help my environment. Well why not buy for a cause? I went on the hunt for some great recycled jewelry and came across the most interesting sites yet. Its a shop for a cause web-site, it has many different causes including; Hunger, Breast Cancer, Animals and the Rain forest just to name a few. So of course being GREEN week I started to look for some fun jewelry to add to my collection, I wasn't let down. The page has 5 main shopping categories to include; Eco-Friendly, Organic and Recycled. In each page you will find some great one of a kind pieces including these two bracelet that I fell in love with.
The first set of bracelets come in four different types of recycled GLASS chips and the second is bracelets made with Taqua Chips which come from the rain forests in South America. They are a small ivory-like nut that falls from trees (hence reusing natural things the earth produces). The Recycled Glass bracelet is $12.00 and the Taqua Chips are $12.95. I know that is a little bit pricey for one bracelet that is why I saved the best part for last. Each purchase you make saves at least 1,145 square feet of land in the rain forest. By buying these natural and recycled products they do not have to cut down trees for bangles or necklaces, so at 12 dollar investment in my environment that I can wear proudly, I'm okay with it.

Green Works

We have all heard it time and time again, stop using plastic bags, do we listen? I know it took me a long time to switch to reusable bags for shopping trips or grocery purchases. I did some research on these popular plastic bags to see why girls must have one. My conclusion, status, the cute pink and silver striped bag you get with your undies or the black and white horizontal striped bag full of cosmetics make you feel powerful when you walk through the mall. As far as the grocery store, what can three bags really be, at least that is what I always thought. Did you know that Plastic bags are so cheap to produce and store that they have captured at least 80 percent of all markets. For what? Most of the bags end up in the landfill or stuffed in the junk drawer at your house. So my challenge to you in be bigger than the "society" made feeling of carrying around bags you won't use ever again and check out these cute reusable bags. I use mine as a purse when I go shopping for clothes, then for go the extra plastic bag (Make sure you keep your receipt with them), I also use it when I go to the Farmers Market. It is so comfortable and can hold more than you think, plus no more arm marks when you are carrying it inside. Go Green Ladies I know you can... I did!

Green Friendly

So we know what going green mean, green friendly on the other hand is going green while saving green. On my shopping trip to pick up some Hawaiian punch singles to make my water taste better I stumbled on the softest make-up brushes I've ever felt. They are made with Bamboo which is very Eco friendly, a bamboo tree can regenerate in 3-5 years where it takes tree 50 plus. So I picked up the kit to try out, I was not let down, the brushes were so soft and they apply evenly. So stop by a Walgreens and give them a try, what do you have to lose?

New York Fall Fashion

Last but certainly not least on my stop of fall runway trends; New York City. Fashion capital of the world and one of the best cities in my opinion. The shows are always so fun and vary from stage to stage. The trend that I noticed the most? Floral and a very fitted waist and Ralph Lauren, Preen and Dianne Von Furstenberg were my favorites. It is great that floral's like lace are making a comeback, they will always be very feminine. Pair a floral with a neutral pant and great blazer, your unstopable.

Great Fall Work Pants

I watched a fashion show put on by Gianfranco Ferré, he had some great twill high waisted pants that I thought were fabulous. Personally I do not think the majority of people can pull off high waisted fashions and I know I can't, so I went on the hunt for a great inspired look of the pants in a neutral for this fall. Let me know what you think!

Milan's Catwalk

I am very excited that lace is coming back into style for the fall. Milan had there fashion week and great designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Prada had one main staple; lace. I think lace is timeless and classic. This isn't the lace that you wore on those Easter Sunday dresses or even the tube tube socks made for girls, it is soft and lays mostly on the bodice. Whenever I look at lace products it brings me back to the day I saw my grandma put on her fresh water pearls and lace dress and hose. So how can I make that fashion a staple in my life without feeling like my little niece is thinking the same thing? Simple, pair it with a color neutral heel, not a neutral like gray, tan or black but a muted color in green, yellow or purple for fall.

London Fall Inspiration

So I had some down time over the weekend and I was finally able to watch all of the fall fashion shows through out all the world. Starting in London, which I have a soft spot for, they don't ever seem to let me down. Two of the trends I watched filter through each designers show, the use of the color green, darker hues and lime's. The other trend I also really loved was the use of graphics, almost like art appreciation, mostly in mini dresses, perfect for layering with Khaki jackets, tights and boots. I went window shopping for some great deals using the inspiration of London. Most stores are carrying fall clothing now, so its a good time to go start window shopping for a wish list.

Hooray for Preps!

I don't really define my style anything other than my own. Putting labels on people is so the 90's, because now a days you can see punk pieces mixed with preppy pieces to create a one of a kind. However I became a "prep" as my friend called me when we were out getting sonic slush's a few months ago. So in true me fashion, I found the preppiest outfit to wear tomorrow so that she could call me prep again, it will be worth the laugh. Best part? I get shorts, a polo and a hot bag to mix and match in my wardrobe for the next couple of years. Check out the steals I found at Aeropostale.

Shorts $9.99, Polo $7.99, Bag $8.99~~ Total $26.97
So for all the "preps" enjoy! :-) The weekend is coming up so I will find great deals, not going over my budget and be back!
Have a fun weekend!

Victoria Secret

You read the title right, Victoria Secret, and yes you will be able to afford it. Last year for my 21st birthday my cute cousin got me a swimming suit to wear on my cruise to Cabo San Lucas, I was so excited. I had never worn anything besides the 100 way bra from Victoria Secret before. Let me tell you girls, when you buy a VS swim suit, you might make the other ones jealous. It lifts and separates in all the right places. So me thinking there wasn't anyway I would be able to afford another one clicked onto the VS website. They had the big 60% off sale on the main page but all of those were still $40.00 for a top and bottom, yikes. Then my computer froze so I, as any pissed off computer junkie gets started clicking away. After it un froze it took me to another screen where I was looking at swim suits at were as low as $8.00 for a top and bottom, yes $8.00 OMG, shut up.

See what you have to do is click on sales, then clearance. There my friend you will find amazing swimsuits at a price where you are almost ripping VS off...almost. Here are few of my FAVORITES right now. Go get you one!!

This swimming suit is only....$3.99 per piece.. YEP $3.99
This one you ask? $8.99 a piece!!
Oh this one is only $7.99!!

Dang, I think I just purchased another swimming suit.

Peace,

Chapstick...

While I was at the mall trying on some fun summer make up colors yesterday at one of the middle kiosk places the salesgirl showed me this white cream you can put on your eyelid to make eyeshadow stay in place. Okay, I tried it and then looked it for a second, (DING light bulb) this stuff looks like chapstick. So I told her no thanks (especially at 17 dollars) but secretly I was waiting to get home so I could experiment.

I took the chapstick to my eyelid within a couple of hours from the mall and wallah! It worked, applying a thin layer of chapstick over your eye rubbing it in and then applying your eyeshadow makes it last all day long. It also put a protective layer over your skin from any chemicals on the brushes or makeup itself. So give it a try, go get a 97 cent chapstick, apply a thin layer topped off with a hot color of eyeshadow.

THE Tank Top

I just went to the mall over lunch and I stopped into Forever 21 (just love them) to browse not thinking I would find anything. They had this colorful rack of tank tops that I only wish I could wear. See I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I've got boobs, nice C cup boobs but they don't let me wear the cute not supporting stuff that my little sister can (she was blessed with A's) so I don't even try. However I needed to kill some time and I ended up picking one up and walking over to the dressing room. Susie (cute name) got me a room and thinking to myself "Why am I even bothering?" I slipped on the thin spaghetti strap tank top, adjusted the straps and pulled it down. BAM! my mouth dropped to the floor and I suddenly found myself checking out my mirror image. Can it be? Is it true? Oh yes ma'am, this is a miracle tank top.
Maybe it was the material, maybe the straps or maybe the band bottom but this little number fit like a glove. So I took it off smiling, just knowing I was going to buy it until reality struck. How much is it? I wrinkled my face and turned the price tag over, girls sit down, this miracle tank was only $7.50 OMG, shut up! I was so excited. When I got out of my dressing room Susie asked if I like it and I just replied I love it. (This is funny) She said, Its made for girls with boobs huh? Ha she felt my pain, love it. So there you have it, you have my word, this tank is a miracle. Now you do still need to wear a bra and since I know NONE of you wear a bra with your bra straps showing, I'll be safe thinking the plastic straps are on the bra and the tank on top :-) Love it!

Nailpolish, what else?

So over the weekend I found my new favorite nail polish obsession. Of course I have every color of Wet~n~Wild and a couple of NYC Nail colors but they chip really quick and dry out half way through each bottle. I don't like to spend seven dollars on a bottle of nail polish when I take it off (or bite it off) faster that I put it on, in most cases.
While I was filling a prescription at Walgreen's I went exploring to kill time and of course ended up in the UN organized isle's of beauty products. I looked at the six dollar eyeliner gawking at how expensive it was(I know it isn't that expensive, but you guys know me). I want something unknown, something unique. That is when the nail polish fairy knocked the pen out of my hand so I had to bend down to pick it up and behold bright, bold and shiny nail polish. Has anyone heard of Sinful Colors nail polish? If you have, I am sad you didn't let me in on the secret but if you haven't you have to get to Walgreen's and I strongly urge you to pick up a bottle or two.
They come in over 70 colors and I think my Walgreen's had about 35 of them. They have the funkiest color names (which you know I love) like Thimbleberry and Swedishblue. The color goes on pretty accurately to the bottle and if you know me I chew my nails and chip away at them, surprisingly though my nails didn't chip even when I was scratching at them. I took a picture of what they look like today (Monday) from when I first put the color on Friday afternoon.

No touch ups!!! I can't believe it.

So go check it out, look on the bottom of the beauty register, that is where I found mine. Oh by the way its only 1.99 a bottle(Online store sells them at $4.00 a bottle). So $1.99 for funky names, unique colors and a super cool bottle that actually stay on. We all know what I will be buying for the next couple of months.

Did I mention they have handbags to?

Did everyone love the five dollar shoe post? I hope that is a yes, well guess what? I forgot to mention that they have handbags to. These handbags are so cute and the price tag makes me want all of them, but I must refrain and try to only get a couple every once and awhile. Who can resist these? Look at this cute clutch that can spice up a white tee and ripped jeans with ease.

I love to have a variety of purses because they are the only thing that doesn't have to match when you get ready. You just grab the one you like and go, purses are a wonderful thing.

<---- This bag is my favorite on the site, and it comes in Purple which is even better.
Happy Purse finding!

5 Dollar shoes, its true!

I love shoes! They tell can tell a story, make an outfit and I don't know about you but I stand up with confidence because I know I have killer legs zoning in on that hot guy in the corner. So because I love you guys I'm going to let you in on the best unknown secret online. 5 dollar shoe warehouse. Yes, it is true five dollars for a pair of shoes. Not only are they the best deal for any Lincoln bill sitting in your wallet, they are trendy, stylish and come in almost every size.

So now for my $29.82 I can get 4 pairs of shoes. Pick up your jaw from the floor, because I know I had to when I found out this deal and get some cute shoes. Here is a couple of my favorites. The gray ballet flats remind me of the Chanel sheepskin style and we all know a classic black pump with a twist is always a do. They have been offering $5 shoes since 1987. A bonus, they are available online too. Life just got sweet again.

Here are a couple of my favorites!
